Nigerian forward Terem Moffi reached a personal milestone with his 50th Ligue 1 goal, but OGC Nice fell short of victory losing 2-1 against relegation-battling FC Nantes.

Moffi equalized for Nice from the penalty spot in the 72nd minute, canceling out Matthis Abline’s early opener for Nantes. However, the home fans’ celebrations were cut short as Mostafa Mohamed restored Nantes’ lead just four minutes later.

This loss deals a significant blow to Nice’s Champions League qualification hopes. Currently sitting in fifth, they are six points behind AS Monaco in the race for the top three.

For Nantes, the win is a vital boost in their fight against relegation. They move two points clear of the drop zone, despite missing their Nigerian star player for the remainder of the season.

Moffi’s goal marked his 50th in France’s top division. He scored 34 of those goals in 90 appearances for Lorient, adding another 16 for Nice.
