Super Falcons forward Rinsola Babajide has shared her goals as she prepares for her first-ever appearance at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), where Nigeria will be aiming to clinch a record-extending 10th continental crown, Bold Sports reports.
Babajide earned her maiden call-up to the Nigeria women’s senior national team during their 2024 Olympic Games qualifier against Ethiopia, following FIFA’s approval of the request to switch her international allegiance from England to Nigeria.
Now set to feature in her first major senior tournament, the 27-year-old sees the opportunity as a significant personal milestone.
“It’s a very honourable feeling, I’m so privileged to be here. Whenever I’m able to put on the badge, I just feel honour and pride, so I’m excited to get started.”

Looking ahead, Babajide is determined to make her mark during the competition: “My personal goal is to make my debut and I wanna contribute as much as I can to the team’s winnings, goals, assists, and I really wanna win my first senior silverware.”
The Super Falcons will kick off their WAFCON campaign with a mouthwatering opener against Tunisia on July 6, before facing Botswana on July 10 and wrapping up the group stage against Algeria on July 13.
Babajide will be hoping to carry over her impressive club form to the national stage. The UD Tenerife star registered 10 goals and five assists in 28 appearances across all competitions last season, playing a key role in helping her team achieve a significant improvement from their previous campaign.
