Samu Omorodion delivered a stellar performance, scoring twice as Porto came from two goals down to secure a thrilling 3-3 draw against 10-man Manchester United in the Europa League.

Although Harry Maguire’s injury-time header rescued a point for United, Omorodion’s impact was the game’s defining moment.

United seized control early at the Estadio do Dragao. Marcus Rashford opened the scoring in the seventh minute, driving in from the left and firing a shot that slipped past Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa. Rasmus Hojlund, making his first start of the season, extended the lead in the 20th minute, finishing off a slick counter-attack to put United 2-0 up.

However, Porto responded quickly. A Joao Mario cross caused confusion in United’s defense, nearly resulting in an own goal, but Brazil winger Pepe reacted fastest to convert the rebound and make it 2-1.

Just 14 minutes after United’s second goal, Omorodion brought Porto level with a powerful header from another Joao Mario cross.

Omorodion wasn’t finished. Five minutes after the break, the Spanish striker who is of Nigerian descent, completed the turnaround with a thumping near-post finish from a Pepe cutback, slicing through United’s defense once more.

United’s night worsened when Bruno Fernandes was sent off for a second yellow card, his second dismissal in as many games. Even with 10 men, United pressed for an equalizer, and in the first of five added minutes, substitute Harry Maguire rose to head home Christian Eriksen’s corner, earning United a point.

Despite the late equalizer, Omorodion’s brace stole the spotlight. The striker, who almost joined Chelsea in the summer, has now scored seven goals in six games since moving to Porto from Atletico Madrid, with all of his goals coming in the last five matches. Meanwhile, United have won just three of their opening 10 games this season.
