Nigerian forward David Okereke has bid farewell to Turkish side Gaziantep FK following the conclusion of his loan spell with the club, Bold Sports reports.

The striker, who was loaned from Italian outfit Cremonese, joined Gaziantep after struggling for minutes during a brief loan stint at Torino, where he made just nine appearances in the second half of the 2023-24 season.

However, Okereke’s time in Turkey turned out to be a much more successful chapter in his career. The 27-year-old made a significant impact, scoring eight goals and providing three assists in 29 league matches, playing a key role in helping Gaziantep retain their Super Lig status.

Following the end of his loan, Okereke took to his official Instagram page to express his gratitude to the club: “I just want to take a moment to sincerely thank everyone at Gaziantep FK—the management, coaching staff, my teammates, and the amazing fans for the opportunity and support during my time there.”

“It was an important chapter in my career, and I’m truly grateful for how welcomed and respected I felt from day one. I learned, I grew, and I’ll always carry the memories and lessons with me.”

“Wishing the club continued success in the new season. Thank you again for everything!”

Speaking exclusively to Bold Sports, Okereke revealed that he has not yet made a decision regarding his future, although there have been reports linking him with newly promoted Turkish side Kocaelispor.

“A move to Kocaelispor? It’s more of a rumour,” Okereke told Bold Sports. “I had the chance to play under Kocaelispor’s new coach at Gaziantep. We only spoke briefly — he asked if I’d like to join him, and I told him, ‘Since my team is back in Serie A, I’d like to go back to Italy and see how it goes.’ My experience in Turkey was really interesting.”

“It wouldn’t be a bad idea to return to Turkey, but for now, I don’t want to think too much about it. I just want to take a break, relax, and let my agents handle everything.”
