Daniel Oturu inks three-year $7m deal with Hapoel Tel Aviv

Nigerian basketball centre Daniel Oturu has inked a three-year contract valued at over $7 million with Israeli powerhouse Hapoel Tel Aviv, bringing an end to his two-season stint in Turkey.

Oturu has been a cornerstone for Turkish club Anadolu Efes during his two years in European competition. He recently proved instrumental in guiding them to the Turkish Basketbol Super Ligi semifinals, notably scoring nine points in their Game 2 quarterfinal victory over Mersin BSB on Sunday. 

His Game 1 performance was particularly impressive, featuring a game-high 36 points, six rebounds, and three assists.

Details of the agreement, as reported by Sportando’s Alessandro Luigi Maggi, include annual earnings of $2.2 million, $2.3 million, and $2.4 million over the three-year period.

Before departing, Oturu will be eager to cap his time at Anadolu Efes by helping them secure the Turkish basketball championship.

His season averages in the Turkish league stood at 14.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.6 assists. In the EuroLeague, he contributed 8.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, 0.5 assists, and 1.0 blocks per contest.
