D’Tigers power forward Chima Moneke has quelled rumours making the rounds linking him away from Spanish Liga ACB side Baskonia, revealing that he is already preparing for the 2024/25 season.
Moneke was one of Baskonia’s standout players last season and his performance had caught the attention of top clubs in Spain and other European countries leading to rumours and concerns from the Baskonia fans that he might be prized away from the team.
The former Sacramento Kings player has, however, come out to debunk the unverified news and revealed that he has no intention of leaving the club as he is already preparing for the coming season.

“I genuinely don’t know who is making up all these rumors, but they’re getting tiring. I’m a Baskonia player, and I’m really excited for this season. I spoke to Coach Laso yesterday, and I think we have a chance to do something special this season,” the power forward tweeted.
Baskonia brought in coach Pablo Laso and added new players like Kamar Baldwin, Timothé Luwawu-Cabarrot, and Donta Hall to their roster, a move Moneke believes will make the team stronger next season.
“I spoke to Coach Laso yesterday, and I think we have a chance to do something special this season,” he added in the tweet.
Moneke had a standout season in the EuroLeague during the 2023/24 campaign, averaging 13.6 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. The 28-year-old was a Top 5 player in the competition in rebounding and Performance Index Rating.
