Super Falcons and Paris FC goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie, celebrated a major achievement on Monday as she was named 2023/24 French D1 Arkema’s Goalkeeper of the season at a ceremony held at the Pavillon Dauphine in Paris.
Nnadozie’s impressive performance this season ended Olympique Lyonnais goalkeeper Christiane Endler’s four-year reign as the league’s top shot-stopper. Endler finished second in the voting, while PSG’s Katarzyna Kiedrzynek a former two-time winner of the award came in third.

This award holds special significance for Nnadozie. She’s not only the first Nigerian to win this prestigious title, but also the first African since the award’s inception in 2016.
Taking to social media, Nnadozie expressed her gratitude to everyone who supported her journey.
“I’m thrilled to be named the D1 Arkema Goalkeeper of the Year! Huge thanks to the voters, my coaches, and my teammates for their incredible support, and to my amazing family and Nigerian fans – you guys are the best! God did this,” she wrote on the social media platform X formerly known as Twitter.
The 23-year-old former Rivers Angels shot-stopper has been a key player for Paris FC since joining in 2020. This season, her stellar performance not only helped her team secure third place but also contributed to the league’s third-best defense.
Aside from being one of the best goalkeepers in France, the 23-year-old has also cemented her place as the first-choice goalkeeper for the national team. She has represented Nigeria at various international competitions such as the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations, and the FIFA Women’s World Cup. She was also instrumental in helping the team qualify for the 2024 Olympics in Paris later this year.
