Nigeria’s Flamingos have officially secured their spot in the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup after playing to a goalless draw against Algeria’s U-17 Women’s National Team in their second-leg clash at the Mustapha Tchaker Stadium in Blida on Friday.
The Flamingos had earned a comfortable advantage in the first leg at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne on Saturday, overwhelming the Fennecs of Algeria 4-0 with three quick goals in the first half and a late strike in the final minutes to cap off the impressive win.
Although the Flamingos began the game strongly, they couldn’t extend their lead, lacking the finishing touch they displayed in the first leg. Nevertheless, they effectively contained the home side, denying them any real opportunities to mount a comeback.

In the second half, the Flamingos generated multiple chances to put the game beyond reach but couldn’t capitalise on them, while Algeria kept pressing in hopes of forcing an error that could shift the momentum.
With neither team able to find the back of the net, the match ended in a goalless draw, resulting in Algeria missing out on World Cup qualification once more, while the Flamingos secured their eighth appearance at the tournament.
The Flamingos’ triumph ensures their place as one of four African representatives, along with the host nation, at the 9th edition of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, set to take place in Morocco from October 17 to November 8.
