Nottingham Forest head coach Nuno Espírito Santo has confirmed that Super Eagles fullback Ola Aina will be out of action “for a while” after suffering a calf-related injury against Manchester United in their Premier League clash on Tuesday.
While Nottingham Forest continued their remarkable form by completing a league double over Manchester United for the first time since the 1991-92 season, Ola Aina pulled up injured in the 36th minute, leading to question marks over his fitness with crucial games looming.
However, in his pre-match press conference ahead of their next league game against Aston Villa, Nuno Espírito Santo provided an update on Aina’s injury: “He already did the scan, he will be out for a while, he’s not going to be available,” the gaffer confirmed.

“It’s a big blow yeah, we will miss his quality, his talent, the routines he already has with his teammates, we’re gonna miss him. It’s a problem with the calf,” he added.
Nuno also gave updates on the fitness of Chris Wood and Callum Hudson-Odoi: ”We’re assessing, it’s like I’ve been telling you, it’s gonna be day by day. Hopefully tomorrow he is better (Chris Wood) and he can continue to improve. Callum is gonna be available for this game, he’s gonna be okay.”
Ola Aina will be a major miss for Nottingham Forest as the Nigerian fullback has consistently delivered impressive performances this season, helping his side defensively and attacking wise.

His injury may see Spanish fullback Alex Moreno receive more game time while Nuno may revert to a back three just as he did against Manchester United.
After completing the double over Manchester United, Nottingham Forest will be motivated to achieve the same feat against Aston Villa after defeating them 2-1 in the corresponding fixture. Victory would see Forest establish a 10-point gap over Newcastle who sit fifth, increasing their chances of securing a top-four finish.
