Nigeria’s men’s 4x100m relay team missed out on gold at the African Championships, conceding victory to their West African rivals, Ghana.

The Nigerian quartet of Kanyinsola Ajayi, Usheoritse Itsekiri, Alaba Akintola, and Godson Brume clocked 38.84s, not good enough to overcome the Ghanaian team who won gold.

The Ghanaian team won the gold medal with a time of 38.63s.

Ivory Coast claimed the bronze medal with a time of 39.77s.

The women’s 100m relay team anchored by Tobi Amusan had earlier won gold medal.

The Nigerian track and field stars claimed first position clocking a time of 42.76s to beat arch-rivals Ghana to second with Liberia coming third.

The Nigerian women team continued their impressive performance at the competition having constantly won gold in the category since 2018.
