Nigeria’s Chidi Okezie has set his sights on clinching gold in the men’s 400m at the ongoing African Athletics Championships.

Okezie who spoke with Bold Sports expressed his desire to elevate his performance beyond his bronze medals at the two previous editions of the competition.

Okezie further said he hoped to build on his recent success at the African Games earlier this year where he won the gold medal.

“I am a competitor, so anything other than gold is not a competitive mindset. That being said, of course I’m going to go for gold. Initially this year, I won the African Games and I had bronze at the last two African Championships, so I need to upgrade the medal,” Okezie said.

Okezie has secured a spot in the men’s 400m final alongside fellow Nigerians Dubem Amene and Samuel Ogazi.
