Rwanda, South Africa go four points clear of Eagles with wins

Rwanda regained top spot of the 2026 World Cup qualifying Group C, which houses the Super Eagles, after they beat Lesotho 1-0 at the Moses Mabhida stadium in South Africa.

Jojea Kwizera grabbed the match winner for the Amavubis just before halftime.

The result moves the Amavubis top of the standings by virtue of a better goals difference of +2 goal than former group leaders Benin Republic, who now drop to third place with seven points and a +1 goals.

Meanwhile, South Africa moved to second after they beat Zimbabwe 3-1 at the Free State Stadium on Tuesday evening to go joint top of Group C on Tuesday.

Iqraam Rayners shot the Bafana Bafana into the lead after he capitalised on a poor give-away from Munashe Garananga and calmly finished with his right foot.

Thapelo Morena then scored a second-half brace as a substitute to see Hugo Broos’ side to their second win in Group C.
