D’Tigress gear up for Olympics with friendlies against Germany, Puerto Rico

The Nigerian women’s national basketball team, D’Tigress, will sharpen their skills for the 2024 Paris Olympics with warm-up games against Germany and Puerto Rico.

Their first test comes on July 19th when they face Germany at the Uber Arena in Berlin during the Basketball Festival. Two days later, on July 21st, they’ll take on Puerto Rico in a friendly match held in France.

The Nigerian Basketball Federation is looking to schedule additional games to prepare the team for a strong showing at the Olympics. D’Tigress aims to advance past the group stage, having exited there in their previous two Olympic appearances.

In Paris, D’Tigress will battle for a quarter-final spot in Group B alongside powerhouses Australia, Canada, and host nation France.

The team will also play warm-up matches during their training camp in Nigeria before heading to France.

The Women’s Basketball competition at the Paris Olympics runs from July 28th to August 11th, 2024, held at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy (Decathlon Arena).
