Nigerian midfielder Raphael Onyedika lifted the Belgian Jupiler Pro League trophy with Club Brugge despite a scoreless draw against city rivals Cercle Brugge in their final playoffs match.

The draw secured a 19th domestic league title for Club Brugge by one point over Union Saint-Gilloise and three points ahead of Anderlecht, all vying for the championship on the last day.

Brugge finished the playoffs unbeaten with seven wins and three draws, accumulating 50 points, one more than Union Saint-Gilloise.

Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika played a key role, scoring three goals in nine playoff appearances, adding to his contributions during the regular season with 21 matches played.

This title win marks a remarkable turnaround for Club Brugge under a caretaker manager. They finished the regular season in fifth place, a significant 19 points behind Union Saint-Gilloise. Despite points being halved going into the playoffs, Brugge clawed their way back to clinch the championship.

The victory earns Club Brugge a direct spot in the Champions League group stage next season, while Union Saint-Gilloise will need to navigate the qualifying rounds.
