Napoli’s skipper, Giovanni Di Lorenzo, has expressed confidence in star striker Victor Osimhen’s ability to lead them past Barcelona in the upcoming second leg of their round of 16 clash at Camp Nou on March 12.
Osimhen, fresh from representing Nigeria at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, delivered a crucial equalizer for Napoli in their 1-1 home draw against the Spanish giants on Wednesday.
Despite a shaky start, the Italian side found reassurance in Osimhen’s 75th-minute goal, nullifying Robert Lewandowski’s opener in the 60th minute.
Di Lorenzo not only praised the Nigerian forward but also backed him to navigate Napoli through the Barcelona challenge.
Reflecting on the match, Di Lorenzo remarked, “It was a commendable performance against a formidable team packed with champions.”
He continued, “Osimhen is a champion himself and he returned with the right attitude. He will be a valuable asset to us, alongside Simeone and Raspadori. The coach now has a wealth of options at his disposal.”
Osimhen has found the back of the net twice in five Champions League appearances.
