Former Nigeria international striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni has named his all-time Super Eagles XI, selecting a star-studded lineup featuring some of the biggest names to have represented the country.
The 43-year-old revealed his selections during a recent interview posted on the official Super Eagles X (formerly Twitter) page, showcasing his knowledge of Nigeria’s football history.
In goal, Aiyegbeni picked former Lille goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama, describing him as his “number one” and one of the best goalkeepers in Africa during his playing days.
For the defence, Aiyegbeni selected Bright Osayi-Samuel at right-back, Celestine Babayaro at left-back, with Joseph Yobo and Danny Shittu forming his central defensive partnership.

The former striker opted for a midfield pairing of Sunday Oliseh and Austin “Jay Jay” Okocha, two of Nigeria’s most celebrated midfielders.
On the wings, Aiyegbeni chose Julius Aghahowa on the left and Finidi George on the right, while Kanu Nwankwo was selected as one of the two forwards.
Aiyegbeni completed his attack by selecting himself alongside Kanu, leaving no doubt about his belief in his own credentials as one of Nigeria’s greatest strikers.
The former Portsmouth, Middlesbrough, Everton and Blackburn Rovers forward remains one of Nigeria’s most prolific international goalscorers. He scored 21 goals in 57 appearances for the Super Eagles, placing him fourth on the country’s all-time scoring chart behind Rashidi Yekini, Victor Osimhen and Segun Odegbami.
Aiyegbeni also enjoyed a distinguished career in the Premier League, scoring 95 goals during a nine-year spell in England’s top flight. That tally places him fifth among Africa’s highest goal scorers in Premier League history.
