French club Stade de Reims have completed the signing of Nigerian defender Godwin Itotomi from Grassrunners FC on a season-long loan with an option to make the move permanent, Boldsports report.
The 18-year-old centre-back will join the club’s Reims Révélations squad after impressing during a trial at the Raymond Kopa Training Centre.
Itotomi arrives in France after a strong campaign with Grassrunners FC. The powerful defender developed through the N-Youth League Cup, where he scored four goals in 22 appearances. During his trial, he featured against Paris Saint-Germain’s U19 team and Eintracht Frankfurt, producing displays that convinced Reims to offer him a contract.
The French side believes Itotomi has the qualities to grow into European football. His performances in friendly matches showed his defensive strength and composure, earning him a place in the club’s reserve setup.
Confirming the deal, Stade de Reims said:
”Stade de Reims is pleased to make official the arrival of Godwin Itotomi at Reims Révélations, in the form of a loan with an option to buy. The young 18-year-old Nigerian central defender joins the Espoirs group.”
The club also highlighted its commitment to helping the youngster settle in France.
”An ideal human and infrastructural framework for a first experience on the European continent, which will facilitate its adaptation and allow it to continue its development in the best conditions.”
Before completing the move, Itotomi spent several days training with Reims before taking part in matches against Paris Saint-Germain’s U19 side and Eintracht Frankfurt.
Reims also welcomed the defender with the message:
”Welcome to the City of Coronations, Godwin!”
The Nigerian youngster could return to Africa in September 2026 if Reims Révélations participate in their first major tournament on the continent.
