The Super Falcons have received the financial rewards promised by the Federal Government following their historic triumph at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), providing further motivation as they begin the defence of their continental crown in Morocco.
According to a post released by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on their official X (formerly Twitter) page on Tuesday, Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Shehu Dikko, alongside NFF General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi, presented the rewards to the players and officials at the team’s camp in Rabat.
Sources within the Super Falcons camp also disclosed that the NSC has introduced an additional performance-based incentive for the ongoing 2026 WAFCON. Every goal scored by Nigeria during the group stage of the competition will attract a reward of $5,000, with further incentives expected as the tournament progresses.
The rewards fulfil the promises made after Nigeria claimed a record-extending 10th WAFCON title last year, when the Super Falcons came from behind to defeat hosts Morocco 3-2 in a dramatic final in Rabat.

Following the victory, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu announced a cash reward of $100,000 for each player, while every member of the squad and coaching staff was conferred with the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON).
In addition, 11 team officials received $50,000 each, while the Nigeria Governors’ Forum donated ₦360 million to the team. Each player was also promised a three-bedroom house in recognition of their achievement.
With the promised rewards now delivered, the gesture is expected to serve as an added boost for Justin Madugu’s side as they pursue an unprecedented 11th WAFCON title.
The Super Falcons begin their Group C campaign against debutants Malawi on Tuesday before taking on Zambia on Saturday, August 1, and Egypt in their final group-stage fixture on Wednesday, August 5.
Beyond continental glory, there is also a place at the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup at stake, with all four semifinalists earning automatic qualification for the tournament in Brazil.
