Ipswich Town have confirmed the permanent signing of Chuba Akpom in a deal reportedly worth £7m.
The Nigerian striker spent the 2025/26 season on loan at the club from Ajax, with the Blues holding an obligation to buy him if they were promoted to the Premier League.
With that feat achieved on the final day of the Championship season, Ipswich have now triggered a permanent move, with Chuba Akpom signing a deal until 2029.
“Ipswich Town can confirm Chuba Akpom will join the Blues on a permanent deal,” the club announced through a statement on their official website on Tuesday.
“The forward, 30, moved to Portman Road on loan from Ajax in the summer of 2025, with a permanent move subsequently triggered during the course of the 2025/26 season”
“Chuba made a total of 31 appearances throughout the course of the campaign, with goals against Hull City and Oxford United coming in vital victories to help Town secure promotion to the Premier League.”
“The permanent deal for Chuba, which runs until 2029, will come into effect from 1 July,” the statement concluded.

It means that Chuba Akpom will join Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey, Ola Aina, Taiwo Awoniyi, and potentially Frank Onyeka, as the Nigerians set to play in the Premier League next season.
