Kelechi Iheanacho has expressed his excitement with being the match-winner for Celtic in their crucial 2-1 victory over Hibernian on Sunday.

The Super Eagles striker came on with the scores level in the 70th minute, and scored two minutes later to secure all three points for the Hoops.

His strike ensured Celtic move level on points with league leaders Hearts, who have a game in hand. They will play that game against third-placed Rangers in a huge clash on Monday evening.

“I’m really pleased, I’m happy to be an impact in the game. For my teammates and for the club,” Kelechi Iheanacho said in an interview with Sky Sports Scotland after his important goal.

With four goals in his last five games, the 29-year-old is in his best form since joining Celtic as a free agent in 2025. He explains that he is always ready to help the team, regardless of the situation.

“I’m always ready, whether I’m starting or coming on. Need to just get my head straight, great finish. We win the game, three points, it’s important for us going forward.”

Celtic had to face 10 men for most of the game against Hibernian after Jamie McGrath was sent off in the 21st minute.

“We need patience to move them side to side, to create the chances and the space. We did that and we scored through a set-piece. That’s what matters,” Iheanacho added.
