Galatasaray midfielder Mario Lemina has described Victor Osimhen as the best striker he has ever played with, praising the Nigerian forward’s relentless impact both on and off the ball.

Both players played key roles for Galatasaray as the Turkish giants secured a 1–0 win over Liverpool in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 clash on Tuesday. Osimhen provided the assist for Lemina, who scored the only goal of the match.

Following his match-winning performance and overall display, the Gabon international was named the official Player of the Match. Speaking after the game, the 32-year-old midfielder was full of praise for the Nigerian striker

“I’ve played with forwards like Aubameyang, Higuain, Gignac, Falcao, but there’s no one like Victor Osimhen. He’s one of a kind,” Lemina said in a conversation with Djibril Drame.

The midfielder praised Osimhen’s work rate and influence beyond goals, noting that the striker’s contributions extend across every phase of play.

“Even if he doesn’t score, he’s constantly contributing, constantly a threat. Always pressing. He defends with us. On top of that, he’s a complete finisher.”

Lemina also revealed the intense competitive mentality that drives the 27-year-old Nigerian international.

“I’ve never seen such a hungry forward. He hates losing, and when we lose, he won’t talk to you. The next day, he puts on his headphones and doesn’t talk to anyone. But these are good habits. It’s a fantastic thing.”

Osimhen’s assist against Liverpool added to an impressive campaign for the striker, who has now recorded 18 goals and five assists in 27 appearances across all competitions this season.

Galatasaray will turn their attention to domestic action against İstanbul Başakşehir on Saturday before preparing for the decisive second leg against Liverpool, where Osimhen will again be expected to play a key role as the Turkish champions chase a place in the Champions League quarter-finals.
