…Akor Adams hopes to end 4-game goalless run

Sevilla striker Akor Adams has thrown his full support behind manager Matías Almeyda ahead of Sunday’s high-profile Seville derby against Real Betis, despite the coach serving a seven-match suspension, Bold Sports reports.

‎The Argentine boss received a one-match ban for a red card during Sevilla’s 1-1 home draw against Deportivo Alavés, along with an additional six-match suspension for confronting the referee.

While Almeyda will miss the clash, Adams emphasized that the squad remains focused on backing their coach.

‎“We need him. He’s still with us at every training session and every game,” Adams told Elcorreoweb. “He’s the same guy, the same energy. I can’t say much about it because it is coming from the league. But for us, I know it’s not very fair.”

‎Adams also addressed the team’s decision to prepare for the derby behind closed doors, highlighting the players’ trust in Almeyda’s leadership and judgment.

“For me personally, the boss decides what happens. Matías Almeyda decides that the club is behind him and we are behind him. He knows what is best for us. He’s our leader. He said that’s what’s best for us right now. For me, I trust him and that’s what’s good,” Adams added.

‎The Nigerian international has been in solid form this season, contributing six goals and three assists in 20 La Liga appearances. His performance will be vital as Sevilla aim to continue their recent run of impressive results in the Spanish top flight.

Despite the managerial absence, Adams’ remarks underscore the unity and determination within the Sevilla squad, signaling that the team remains focused on the derby and the broader league campaign. The players’ confidence in Almeyda highlights a shared commitment to maintaining stability and cohesion, even in challenging circumstances.

‎Sevilla will hope that the combination of Adams’ scoring prowess and the collective resolve of the squad can help them overcome Betis and sustain their push in La Liga’s competitive race.
