Super Eagles striker Terem Moffi made his long-awaited debut for Porto as the Portuguese giants secured a hard-fought 1-0 win over Nacional in their league clash on Sunday, Bold Sports reports.

The Nigerian International who joined Francesco Farioli’s side on loan during the January transfer window from Nice, came on in the 74th minute as the visitors held on to claim all three points, taking them seven points clear at the top of the table.

After a tight first half where they dominated but were unable to break the deadlock, Porto finally got their winner in the 60th minute, with former Southampton defender Jan Bednarek rising highest to head in his first league goal for the club.

Nacional pushed for an equaliser in the dying minutes of the game, but failed to find the back of the net as they suffered their 11th league loss this season, leaving them just four points ahead of the relegation zone.

For Porto, the victory was their 19th in 22 games this campaign. They now lead second-placed Sporting CP with seven points, although the current champions have a game in hand.

Asides from the crucial win, Moffi’s debut serves as a major positive for Porto, especially after the serious injury to the team’s first-choice striker Samuel Aghehowa.

The Nigerian international will be hoping to get more game time in the coming weeks as he hopes to fill the void left with the injury to the Spaniard. Porto’s next league match comes up next Sunday when they host Rio Ave.
