FC Porto have added fresh firepower to their squad after securing Nigerian striker Terem Moffi on a temporary move from French club Nice.

The deal, confirmed on Friday, keeps the 26-year-old at the Portuguese side until the end of the season, with Porto holding an optional clause to make the transfer permanent.‎‎ The purchase option is valued at €8 million, while an additional €250,000 could be triggered through performance-related achievements.

As part of the agreement, Nice have ensured they will benefit from any future transfer involving the striker by retaining 10 percent of a potential resale profit.‎‎

Moffi, who has been handed the number 29 jersey, is no stranger to the Estádio do Dragão. He previously played at the venue last November when Nice suffered a 3-0 loss to Porto.

Shortly after arriving in the Portuguese city on Thursday afternoon, he watched his new teammates defeat Rangers 3-1 at the stadium.‎‎

The Calabar-born attacker’s journey to European football began at a young age. At just 17, he left Nigeria to enroll at Buckswood Football Academy in England. Before establishing himself in Western Europe, he gained professional experience in Lithuania, where he featured for Zalgiris Kaunas and later FK Riteriai.

‎‎His achievements at club level earned him international recognition. Moffi received his first call-up to the Nigerian national team under Gernot Rohr and made his Super Eagles debut in June 2021 against Cameroon.‎‎

Following that breakthrough season, he contributed eight goals and four assists before beginning the 2022/23 campaign in prolific form, registering 12 goals in 18 matches.

His performances earned him a move to Nice, where he continued his scoring consistency with 20 goals and six assists. Eleven of those goals came while playing under coach Francesco Farioli, and he also shared the pitch with Pablo Rosario during his time at the French club.

‎‎After returning from injury in March last year, Moffi managed one goal in five appearances. This season, he has recorded three goals across 15 matches before completing his switch to Porto.‎‎
