Bendel Insurance’s impressive nine-game unbeaten run in the Nigeria Premier Football League came to an end on Sunday as they suffered a 1–0 defeat away from home to Shooting Stars Sports Club in Ibadan.
The Matchday 22 encounter at the Lekan Salami Stadium was keenly contested, with both sides showing tactical discipline in a tightly fought game.
Insurance arrived in Ibadan full of confidence after going nine matches without defeat, but Shooting Stars were determined to make home advantage count.
The decisive moment came in the 71st minute, when Qamar Adegoke scored the only goal of the match for the Oluyole Warriors. The forward took his chance calmly, sending the home fans into celebration and giving Shooting Stars a crucial breakthrough.

Despite conceding, Bendel Insurance pushed forward in search of an equaliser and applied pressure in the closing stages. However, Shooting Stars defended resolutely, closing down spaces and denying the visitors any clear-cut opportunity to get back into the game.
The victory had important implications on the NPFL standings, as Shooting Stars climbed to sixth on the table with 35 points, strengthening their push for a higher finish this season.
Bendel Insurance dropped to eighth place but remain on 32 points, bringing an end to what had been a solid run of form.
The defeat also marked a notable milestone for Bendel Insurance head coach Kennedy Boboye, who recorded his second loss since taking charge of the club, after previously guiding the team through a strong unbeaten spell.
