Nigeria’s Super Eagles could be drawn against Cameroon, Mozambique or Angola in the round of 16 of the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, with the knockout fixture scheduled for January 5 in Fez.
The Super Eagles currently top Group C with six points and are on course to finish as group winners following their final group match against Uganda’s Cranes on Tuesday. Nigeria have already secured qualification for the round of 16, joining hosts Morocco, as well as Algeria, Mali, Egypt and South Africa in the knockout phase.
By finishing top of Group C, the Super Eagles are set to face one of the best third-placed teams from either Group B or Group F.

Angola have already completed their group campaign, collecting just two points from three matches. Mozambique, meanwhile, currently lead the ranking of third-placed teams after picking up three points from their opening two fixtures.
The final third-placed team from Group F will be determined on Wednesday, when Mozambique face the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, while defending champions Côte d’Ivoire take on Gabon.
Côte d’Ivoire currently sit top of Group F with four points and are favourites to secure maximum points against Gabon. Cameroon are second, also on four points, while Mozambique have three.

Cameroon require at least a draw to finish second, while Mozambique must win to avoid dropping to third place, and potentially setting up a round-of-16 clash with Nigeria.
Angola’s fate, however, could still change depending on the final Group C fixture between Tanzania and Tunisia. Should Tanzania spring a surprise against Tunisia, Angola could be displaced in the final ranking of third-placed teams.
