Gabon and Mozambique will both be looking to bounce back from opening-day defeats when they face off in their second Group F fixture at the 2025 CAF Africa Cup of Nations. They played at the Grand Stade d’Agadir at 1:30 pm

With both sides yet to register a point, the encounter carries added significance as each nation aims to keep its hopes of reaching the knockout stage alive. Defeat in this fixture would leave little margin for error going into the final round of group matches.

This will be the first time Gabon and Mozambique meet at the AFCON finals, adding a fresh chapter to their continental rivalry. However, the two teams are no strangers to each other, having crossed paths seven times in all competitions.

Gabon hold a slight edge in the head-to-head record, with four wins to Mozambique’s two, while one match ended in a draw. Their most recent meetings came during qualification for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, when both teams won 1–0 at home, although neither progressed to the finals in Russia.

They also faced each other in the qualifiers for the 1994 World Cup, with Gabon claiming a 3–1 home victory before a 1–1 draw in Mozambique. Notably, all seven of their previous encounters have produced goals, and each of the last four meetings has had a winner, an encouraging sign of another competitive contest in Agadir.
