Zambia and Comoros settled for a share of the spoils after playing out a goalless draw in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Group A clash on Friday night at the Stade Mohammed V in Casablanca, Bold Sports reports.

Both teams entered the encounter in search of a positive result, with Zambia coming off a 1-1 draw against Mali in their opening fixture, while Comoros were looking to bounce back from a 2-0 defeat to tournament hosts Morocco.

The match started at a frantic pace, with both sides pushing forward in search of an early goal. Zambia came closest in the opening exchanges when Patson Daka nearly snatched the ball from the legs of Comoros goalkeeper Yannick Pandor, but the shot-stopper reacted swiftly to recover the ball and keep his side level.

Comoros gradually grew into the game and appeared to have taken the lead in the 19th minute. Rafiki Said burst into the penalty area before squaring the ball for Myziane Maolida, who calmly finished into an empty net. However, celebrations were cut short following a VAR review, which ruled out the goal for a foul in the build-up.

Undeterred, Comoros continued to enjoy a spell of dominance, controlling possession and pressing high up the pitch, but they were unable to convert their superiority into a goal. Zambia responded after the half-hour mark and saw more of the ball, yet clear-cut chances remained at a premium as the first half ended goalless.

The second half proved to be a more subdued affair, with both teams struggling to create meaningful opportunities despite knowing the importance of securing all three points. Chances were few and far between, and neither side was able to test the goalkeepers decisively.

The final whistle confirmed the first 0-0 draw of the ongoing AFCON tournament. The result leaves Comoros rooted to the bottom of Group A with one point from two matches, while Zambia sit second with two points. Zambia will face hosts Morocco in their final group game, while Comoros will look to revive their campaign against Mali.
