‎Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé has made a surprise trip to Rabat, Morocco, as the Africa Cup of Nations continues to gather momentum, Bold Sports reports.

‎The French forward arrived in the Moroccan capital ahead of Friday’s Group A encounter between the Atlas Lions and Mali, using a brief pause in his club schedule to show support for close friend Achraf Hakimi.

Reports from French outlet L’Équipe revealed that Mbappé traveled alongside his parents and younger brother, Ethan.

‎The visit follows an invitation from Hakimi, with whom Mbappé built a strong relationship during their shared spell at Paris Saint-Germain. Their friendship has remained intact despite moving to different clubs, and the Morocco defender is said to be delighted by his former teammate’s presence.

Hakimi is gradually working his way back to full fitness after suffering an ankle injury earlier in November, and Mbappé is expected to link up with the Moroccan camp during his stay.

The report also suggests the France captain may attend other AFCON fixtures before returning to Spain when Real Madrid resume training on December 29.

‎Morocco currently sit atop Group A after opening their campaign with a convincing 2–0 victory over Comoros, while Mali and Zambia shared the spoils in a 1–1 draw.
