‎Senegal midfielder Lamine Camara has expressed strong confidence in his national team, stating that the Lions of Teranga are the favourites to win the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The AS Monaco player believes Senegal’s experience and overall squad quality place them ahead of their rivals as the tournament begins. Speaking ahead of their opening Group D fixture against Botswana on Tuesday, Camara pointed to the depth within the team as a major advantage.

“We are the favourites – we can’t hide from that. If you beat England and beat them in their own country,” Camara told the Guardian.

The highly rated midfielder, who has quickly grown into a key figure for Senegal and added that the squad’s determination to build on previous achievements makes them one of the teams to watch out for.

As champions from the 2021 edition, Senegal enter the competition with a balance of established stars and emerging talents, a combination that has boosted expectations among fans and analysts.
