Tanzania head coach Miguel Gamondi has declared that his team is ready to challenge the status quo as they open their campaign with a tough Group C encounter against three-time champions, Nigeria

Ahead of Tuesday’s clash, the Argentine tactician has dismissed the notion that the Taifa Stars are intimidated by the three-time continental champions.

Gamondi emphasized that while the Super Eagles boast a world-class pedigree, his squad is entering the tournament with “belief rather than fear,” noting that the label of “underdogs” only strengthens his players’ resolve to prove themselves on Africa’s biggest stage.

“AFCON has always shown that there are no small teams,” Gamondi told reporters. “If you believe and fight, you can compete with anyone. Anything is possible when you prepare well.”

‎The Taifa Stars have been training in the chilly conditions of Fès to ensure they are physically and mentally ready for the high-intensity matchup. Gamondi, who recently took over the national team, has focused his preparations on discipline and tactical organization.

With veteran leaders like Mbwana Samatta guiding the group, the coach remains adamant that Tanzania is in Morocco to compete, not merely to participate, setting the stage for a thrilling showdown on December 23.
