Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has returned to training after recovering from a hamstring strain that sidelined him for 11 days, Bold Sports reports.

Osimhen sustained the injury while on international duty with Nigeria during the final of the African World Cup Qualifying Play-off Tournament in Morocco against DR Congo. The match ended 1–1 in regulation time before Nigeria lost 4–3 on penalties.

Due to the setback, Osimhen was unable to feature in Galatasaray‘s 3-2 league victory over Gençlerbirliği as well as their 1-0 Champions League loss to Union St. Gilloise, where they evidently missed the in-form striker.

However, new pictures released on the club’s X (Twitter) page show the Nigerian international training with the ball, indicating he will be fit in time for the Istanbul derby against Fenerbahçe on December 1, a fixture expected to be thrilling and dramatic, with Galatasaray holding just a one-point lead over their rivals.

Despite his return, it is uncertain if Osimhen will be fit enough to start the crucial game, but his presence in the squad will be a welcome boost as the league leaders aim to extend the gap between them and Domenico Tedesco’s side.

Fenerbahçe are unbeaten in 11 games across all competitions and they are the only side yet to lose in the Super Lig this season. As such, they are expected to pose a more formidable threat than last season when Galatasaray faced them thrice and won twice, drawing once.
