Super Eagles winger Ademola Lookman will be aiming to score his first Champions League goal this season when Atalanta face Eintracht Frankfurt at the Deutsche Bank Park on Wednesday, Bold Sports reports.

The 28-year-old has endured a difficult start to the campaign, managing just one goal across all competitions and failing to score or assist in his three Champions League appearances so far.

It is a stark contrast to last season, when Lookman was one of the tournament’s standout performers. Despite Atalanta’s early exit, he scored five goals and registered an assist in seven matches, powering the Italians to the playoff stage before they were knocked out by Club Brugge.

Atalanta head into the encounter in dire need of points. The Bergamo side sit 17th in the Champions League standings with seven points and will be looking to climb the table to boost their qualification hopes.

The match also marks Raffaele Palladino’s first Champions League outing as Atalanta head coach. His debut Serie A fixture at the weekend ended in a 3-1 defeat to Napoli, and he will be eager to make a winning impression on the continental stage.

Frankfurt, meanwhile, are equally desperate for a turnaround. The German side sit 27th with only four points, having won just one of their opening four matches. A home victory on Wednesday would revive their fading playoff aspirations.

Elsewhere on a packed Champions League night, Copenhagen host Kairat Almaty, Pafos FC welcome Monaco, Arsenal take on Bayern Munich in one of the standout fixtures, Atletico Madrid face Inter Milan, Liverpool battle PSV Eindhoven, Olympiacos meet Real Madrid, PSG host Tottenham, and Sporting CP square off against Club Brugge.
