Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has continued his red hot form in the Champions League, netting a hat-trick to help Galatasaray secure a 3-0 victory over Ajax at the Johan Cruijff ArenA on Wednesday, Bold Sports reports.
Osimhen came into the game with three goals in the tournament after netting a brace against Bodo/Glimt as well as the only goal to defeat Premier League champions Liverpool. His hat-trick against Ajax took him to six Champions League goals for the season, making him the leading goal scorer.
The first half was a tight encounter with no goals but Osimhen broke the deadlock in the 59th minute of the game as Leroy Sane found him with a brilliant cross before the Nigerian striker went in with a diving header to find the back of the net.
Few minutes after opening the scoring, Osimhen was on target once again, this time after a penalty was given to the visitors as Youri Baas was penalised for a handball. After a VAR check, Osimhen took the spot kick in commanding fashion, beating Remko Pasveer to make the scoreline 2-0.

The Nigerian striker completed his hat-trick in the 78th minute after another penalty was given following a handball by substitute Gerald Alders. Osimhen dispatched the spot kick ruthlessly once again, securing Galatasaray’s 3-0 victory.
The result means that the Turkish champions have now made their best start to a Champions League season and are well on course to qualify for the round of 16 as they now sit 9th on the table with nine points in four games. Meanwhile, Ajax’ terrible run of four losses in four games keeps them rooted to the bottom of the table.
Galatasaray’s next champions league game will see them face Belgian champions Union St. Gilloise while Ajax will be desperate for their first win of the tournament when they face Jose Mourinho’s Benfica.
With his hat-trick, Victor Osimhen becomes only the second Galatasaray player to achieve the feat in the Champions League, after Burak Yilmaz in 2012.
