Madugu, Olowookere nominated for 2025 CAF Women’s Coach of the Year award

Super Falcons interim coach Justin Madugu and Flamingos head coach Bankole Olowookere have both been nominated for the Coach of the Year (Women) category at the 2025 CAF Awards.

The nominations recognize both coaches’ outstanding achievements and impact over the past year, marking them among the best in African women’s football. The prestigious ceremony will take place in Morocco for the third consecutive year.

Madugu and Olowookere will compete against an elite lineup that includes Banyana Banyana coach Dr. Desiree Ellis, Ivory Coast’s Adélaïde Koudougnon, ASEC Mimosas’ Siaka Gigi Traoré, and TP Mazembe Women’s Lamia Boumehdi.

Other nominees are 15 de Agosto’s Genoveva Añonman, Ghana’s Black Queens coach Kim Björkegren, Morocco’s Jorge Vilda, and Zambia’s Carol Kanyemba.

Madugu is seen as a frontrunner for the award after guiding the Super Falcons to a record 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title in Morocco – a historic achievement that reaffirmed Nigeria’s dominance in African women’s football.
