Ademola Lookman has been named in Atalanta’s starting XI for their UEFA Champions League Matchday 2 clash against Belgian giants Club Brugge at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo.
Atalanta, who suffered a 4-0 defeat to defending champions Paris Saint-Germain in their campaign opener in Paris, will be eager to get their season back on track with a positive result at home.
Lookman was not part of the travelling squad for the tie in Paris a fortnight ago, but his manager is banking on his presence and experience to inspire a turnaround. The forward has made just one Serie A appearance this season, coming off the bench for three minutes in five league games.
However, earlier in the day, head coach Ivan Juric had hinted that the Super Eagles and Africa Footballer of the Year could be in the starting lineup.

The 26-year-old has endured a turbulent summer after a proposed move to rivals Inter Milan fell through.
Frustrated, Lookman submitted a transfer request, stormed out of the club’s facilities, and was absent without leave for two weeks before eventually returning. Both parties have since reached an understanding, allowing him to reintegrate into training and the squad, intending to manage the situation professionally.
Last season, Lookman was one of Atalanta’s standout performers, scoring 20 goals and providing seven assists in 40 appearances across all competitions.
The Nigeria international will now be hoping to get back on the scoresheet and continue his impressive Champions League form, having netted five times in just seven outings last season.
