A win over US Zilimadjou would see Remo Stars advance to face Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa, who received a bye into the next qualifying round.

Elsewhere, Rivers United, Nigeria’s other Champions League representative, will open their campaign against FC Les Aigles du Congo. The NPFL runners-up face the daunting task of playing their first leg at the Stade des Martyrs, Kinshasa, on Saturday, September 20.

In the CAF Confederation Cup, Kwara United, winners of the President Federation Cup, will begin their continental journey away to Asante Kotoko at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday. The return leg will be staged at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena on Sunday, September 28.

Debutants Abia Warriors are also set for their first taste of continental action. They will host Mali’s Djoliba AC on Sunday at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, before traveling for the return leg a week later.

With four Nigerian clubs in action across the two competitions, local fans will be keenly watching to see how far their representatives can go on the continental stage this season.
