The Super Eagles camp is now at full strength as all 23 invited players have arrived in Uyo ahead of Nigeria’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against the Amavubi of Rwanda on Saturday, Bold Sports reports.
Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman and newly signed Panathinaikos striker Cyriel Dessers, who completed a move from Scottish side Rangers, joined the camp on Wednesday morning, increasing the squad to 18 players.
Later in the day, Samuel Chukwueze, Chrisantus Uche, and Tolu Arokodare — three players who secured moves to Premier League clubs on deadline day — linked up with the team alongside Galatasaray star Victor Osimhen and Club Brugge midfielder Raphael Onyedika to complete the squad.
The early arrivals had their first training session on Tuesday evening at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, but with the new arrivals, head coach Eric Chelle will now have a full squad to train with during this evening’s session. The team also had a media parley earlier on Wednesday as they shared their thoughts ahead of the huge game.

Meanwhile, Rwanda touched down in Uyo on Tuesday and held a gym session on Wednesday morning. They will head to the Godswill Akpabio Stadium on Wednesday afternoon for an on-pitch training session as Adel Amrouche seeks to fine-tune his side ahead of Saturday’s showdown.
The clash against Rwanda marks a pivotal moment for the Super Eagles, who are in desperate need of maximum points from their two fixtures this international window to strengthen their chances of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
After facing Rwanda, Nigeria will travel to Bloemfontein to take on South Africa on September 9. The Super Eagles will be aiming for a better outcome than their last encounter in Uyo, where both teams settled for a 1-1 draw.
