Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt have opened talks with Club Brugge over a potential move for Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika, as they aim to bolster their midfield before the close of the transfer window, Bold Sports reports.

According to Sky reporter Patrick Berger, initial negotiations between both clubs have already taken place, with a fresh round of discussions expected to resume after Frankfurt’s Bundesliga clash against Hoffenheim on Saturday.

The proposed deal under consideration is believed to be a loan move with an obligation to buy, but the situation remains complex as Club Brugge are reluctant to lose Onyedika this late in the window.

Frankfurt are also keeping tabs on alternative midfield targets should they fail to strike an agreement for the Nigerian international, though Onyedika is understood to remain high on their priority list.

Since arriving from FC Midtjylland in 2022, the 24-year-old has established himself as a key figure in Club Brugge’s midfield, making 89 appearances in his first two seasons and helping the team clinch the 2023-24 Belgian Pro League title.

Onyedika maintained his impressive form last season, featuring in 52 matches across all competitions and playing a pivotal role as Brugge secured the Belgian Cup — their first in a decade.

Despite growing interest from abroad, Club Brugge are determined to keep hold of Onyedika as they chase both domestic dominance and continental success this season.
