Amy Okonkwo delivered an impressive performance in her second WNBA appearance, scoring 12 points in 17 minutes, but it wasn’t enough as the Dallas Wings fell 90-81 to the Golden State Valkyries on Sunday.

Okonkwo, who joined the franchise on a seven-day hardship contract, built on her debut performance, where she scored eight points, by finishing with 12 points, three rebounds, two assists, and one steal in her second outing.

Reacting after the game, the 2025 Afrobasket MVP expressed gratitude for the opportunity while highlighting the team’s resilience despite the loss.

“After the last game, we had a talk about coming out fighting, and today we brought much better energy,” Okonkwo said after the game.

“We stuck together, encouraged each other, and fed off each other’s energy to show better spirit, even though the result wasn’t what we wanted.

“This opportunity means so much to me, living my dream of playing in the WNBA. I couldn’t ask for a better place to do it, and I’m truly thankful.”

Okonkwo’s seven-day contract is set to expire on Wednesday, but with the Wings still missing key players like Arike Ogunbowale due to injury, and given her strong performances, an extension appears highly likely.
