AC Milan have received a significant boost ahead of their Serie A opener against Cremonese on Saturday as Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze has returned to training after recovering from a minor muscle injury, Bold Sports reports.

According to Sky Italia, the 26-year-old — who has also been at the center of transfer speculation — struggled with a slight muscular problem in recent days but has now fully recovered and is back in contention.

Head coach Massimiliano Allegri will be pleased with Chukwueze’s availability, particularly with Portuguese winger Rafael Leão ruled out after sustaining a calf injury during Milan’s Coppa Italia victory over Bari.

Chukwueze’s return to training is also good news for Super Eagles manager Eric Chelle, who hopes to have a fully fit squad ahead of Nigeria’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in September.

The Super Eagles face Rwanda on September 6 before traveling to meet South Africa on September 9, needing maximum points from both matches to keep their World Cup hopes alive.

Meanwhile, AC Milan are looking to start the season strongly after a disappointing campaign where they finished eighth in Serie A with 63 points — their worst tally since the 2016-17 season. With no European football this term, Allegri’s side will be fully focused on domestic success.

Chukwueze’s long-term future at the club remains uncertain. The Nigerian winger has been linked with a possible move away before the close of the transfer window. If he stays, he will be determined to rediscover the form that convinced Milan to sign him from Villarreal, having struggled to make the desired impact in his first two seasons.
