Besiktas head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has heaped praise on Wilfred Ndidi following the Nigerian midfielder’s debut in the club’s 2-1 victory over Eyupsor on Sunday, Bold Sports reports.

Ndidi, who joined the Turkish side from Leicester City this summer, featured for 70 minutes in his first Super Lig outing at the Tupras Stadyumu, where Besiktas claimed a late win courtesy of Rafa Silva’s decisive strike.

Speaking after the game, Solskjaer described the Super Eagles star as a player of immense quality and character: “A fantastic player and character. He was always at the top of the statistics for the best ball-winning player in the Premier League,” he said.

“He brings extra fight and ball-winning spirit to the team. This also helps the others. Having him here is a joy for me. I played against him when I was the manager at Manchester United and lost many matches,” the Norwegian added.

Acknowledging that Ndidi is still regaining full fitness, Solskjaer expressed confidence in his long-term impact. “He will get physically better. Today was his first match. He is very strong and will always contribute to the team.”

The victory over Eyupsor took Besiktas’ winning streak to three matches, but they will have to quickly turn their attention to Thursday’s UEFA Conference League qualifier against Lausanne, where Ndidi is expected to feature again.
