Kano Pillars Football Club have announced a landmark partnership with Radio France Internationale (RFI) Hausa in a move that marks a new chapter for the iconic Nigerian football club, Bold Sports reports.
The deal, worth ₦100 million, which is the first of its kind for RFI Hausa and is seen as a significant boost for Kano Pillars as they prepare for the 2025/2026 football season was announced by the club via it social media accounts on Thursday.
“We are pleased to announce that Kano Pillars FC has signed a major sponsorship deal with RFI Hausa! Backed by our General Manager, Ahmed Musa, this partnership includes full kit sponsorship, media support, and branding across all teams,” Pillars wrote on its X account (formerly Twitter).
The agreement was formally signed on Thursday, July 17, 2025, in the city of Kano. It includes a ₦45 million cash injection into the club, along with full playing kits and equipment for both players and officials. The sponsorship covers all categories of the club — including the senior team, the B team, and the youth squads from U13 to U19 — making RFI Hausa the official main sponsor of Kano Pillars FC for the new season.
As part of the deal, the RFI Hausa logo will appear prominently on the chest of Kano Pillars’ home, away, and alternate jerseys. The broadcaster is also expected to support the club with high-quality media equipment, training for the team’s media personnel in professional video production, and a comprehensive communications strategy. Additionally, the partnership will allow for editorial collaboration, with Kano Pillars content to be featured on RFI Hausa’s platforms.
Leading the RFI Hausa delegation was the Head of Hausa Service, Joseph Penny, who was accompanied by Editor-in-Chief Bashir Ibrahim Idris. Both men signed the agreement alongside the club’s new General Manager and Nigerian football legend, Ahmed Musa, who also serves as captain of the Super Eagles.
Speaking during the signing ceremony, Mr. Penny described the partnership as a bold and important step for both RFI Hausa and Kano Pillars. He noted that this was the first time RFI had entered into a direct sponsorship with a football club anywhere in the world, emphasizing the importance of the agreement.
Ahmed Musa expressed his delight at the partnership, calling it a major milestone in his efforts to transform the club since taking over as General Manager, as this was part of his determination to ensure that the team receives the support it needs to reach greater heights.”
The sponsorship is expected to enhance Kano Pillars’ visibility not just within Nigeria but also across West Africa and other regions where RFI Hausa has a strong following.
