Super Falcons forward Rinsola Babajide says the team will be looking to improve on their performance and secure victory in their second group game against Botswana at the Stade Larbi Zaouli, Casablanca on Thursday.

The Super Falcons made a flying start to their Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) campaign on Sunday, securing a commanding 3-0 victory over Tunisia courtesy of goals from Asisat Oshoala, Rinsola Babajide, and Chinwendu Ihezuo.

Amongst the many standout performers for the Falcons on the night, Rinsola Babajide stole the spotlight with a brilliant WAFCON debut, assisting Oshoala’s early goal with a pinpoint cross before opening her account with a composed finish.

Her immense showing saw her voted as the Fans’ Player of the Match, signaling her arrival as a major asset for the nine-time African champions.

However, the 27-year-old is not resting on her oars as she believes the team has the potential to score even more goals, and more importantly, secure another crucial victory when they face Botswana.

“We wanna improve our performance from the last game as always, we wanna have a better shot-to-goal ratio as well, get as many goals as possible, and win the game,” she told Sports Journalist Victor Ademola.

“I feel like we created a lot of opportunities but we didn’t finish it. We weren’t as clinical as we know we are capable of doing so as I said we wanna improve our shot-to-goal ratio and keep enjoying our football as a team.”

Due to her exceptional performance, Rinsola Babajide received an overwhelming amount of support from fans, an outpouring of love she feels deeply grateful for: “Thank you so much for the support and love, it’s so highly appreciated and I’m grateful for it.”

The Super Falcons will be up against a determined Botswanan side who will be desperate to avoid defeat following a narrow 1-0 loss to Algeria in their opening match.

On the other hand, victory for Nigeria would see them secure a place in the quarterfinals with a game to spare.
