Super Eagles B begin CHAN preparations in Ikenne as Chelle, 21 players report to camp

Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle reported to Ikenne on Monday as Nigeria kicked off their preparations for the upcoming African Nations Championship (CHAN) set for August, Bold Sports reports.

The team’s first training session took place under the floodlights at 7pm on Monday, with 21 players in attendance. An additional 14 players are expected to link up with the squad on Tuesday.

Team captain Nduka Junior led the charge in training, joined by familiar faces such as Sadiq Ismail, Remo Stars goalkeeper Kayode Bankole, and forward Sikiru Alimi.

Other players present at the Ikenne camp include Harrison Austin, Lawal Mustapha, Abdulrafiu Taiwo, Temitope Vincent, Adedayo Olanipekun, Adelani Shola, Nurudeen Badmus, Taofeek Olaniyi, and Ani Henry.

The rest of the 21-man squad currently in camp include Egbe Stephen, Atule Joseph, Tochukwu Michael, Aniekeme Okon, Ayomide Cole, Afeez Bankole, Leonard Ngenge, and Hadi Haruna.

Nigeria, who were runners-up in the 2018 edition, will battle defending champions Senegal, Sudan, and Congo in Group D of the 19-team competition.

The Super Eagles B will open their campaign with matches against Senegal and Sudan at the Amman Stadium on the island of Zanzibar, before concluding their group stage fixtures with a clash against Congo at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
