Nigerian forward Anthony Nwakaeme is set to undergo a specialized strength and conditioning program at Trabzonspor ahead of the 2025/26 season.

The one-cap Super Eagles player struggled physically during the 2024/25 campaign, finding it difficult to match the intensity of the Turkish Super Lig following his return from the Saudi Pro League, where he spent two seasons.

Nwakaeme also suffered a series of minor injuries last season, which further hampered his physical performance. In a bid to address these challenges, the club has designed a personalized training program to help him regain top form.

According to sources within Trabzonspor, the program has been carefully tailored for the 36-year-old, with the technical staff expecting him to deliver at a high level in the new season.

Nwakaeme remains a cult hero at Trabzonspor, having played a pivotal role in leading the club to their historic Turkish Super Lig title in the 2021/22 season. His return to the club, despite his age, was met with immense excitement from fans.

Despite battling injuries last season, Nwakaeme featured in 28 matches across all competitions, scoring once and providing four assists. He has been retained for the final year of his contract and has already returned from the summer break to begin preseason preparations.
