Super Falcons forward Folashade Ijamilusi has shared her excitement at being included in Nigeria’s squad for the upcoming 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), which will take place in Morocco, Bold Sports reports.
Ijamilusi will feature in a formidable Super Falcons attack that boasts stars such as Babajide Omorinsola, Asisat Oshoala, Okafor Chioma, Francisca Ordega, Ihezuo Chinwendu, Onumonu Ifeoma, and Okoronkwo Esther.
The tournament will mark Ijamilusi’s first appearance at the WAFCON, an opportunity she regards as a special milestone: “I’d say I feel grateful to be among the team and since it’s my first time, I’m blessed,” she said.
Looking ahead, the forward is focused on contributing to the team’s success. “My expectation is to have a good outing with the team and also win the WAFCON by God’s grace,” she added.
Ijamilusi’s potential debut at the WAFCON represents another significant step in her blossoming career. She currently plays in the Chinese Women’s Super League with Liaoning Baiye, having signed a two-year deal with the club in February.
Before her move to China, Ijamilusi played a key role in Edo Queens’ impressive run to the 2024 WAFU-B Women’s Champions League title in Côte d’Ivoire. She was also instrumental in the club’s historic debut in the CAF Women’s Champions League in Morocco, where she scored in their opening 3-0 win against CBE FC and featured in every match until their heartbreaking semifinal loss to TP Mazembe.
Prior to her continental breakthrough, Ijamilusi had already made her mark in the Nigeria Women Football League. She was nominated for the league’s best player during her final season with Robo Queens and went on to claim the golden boot with eight goals in her debut campaign at Edo Queens.

Ijamilusi first caught attention on the international stage during a friendly double-header against Algeria, where she delivered a standout performance by scoring a hat-trick in Nigeria’s 4-1 victory in the second leg.
