Super Falcons head coach, Justin Madugu, has extended his gratitude to Nigerian fans for their unwavering support for the team, urging them to maintain this backing as the Falcons prepare for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
The Nigerian women’s national team will be chasing a record-extending 10th continental title at the tournament. With the support of fans and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), there is strong belief that the team can achieve this goal, thanks to the depth of talent and quality in the squad.
Madugu, while appreciating the backing from Nigerians, promised that the team is committed to justifying the trust placed in them.
“We thank Nigerians for their consistent support for the Super Falcons. They have always expressed confidence in the team, they’ve given their fullest support to the team in any way possible,” he said.
The coach further stressed the importance of maintaining this level of support as the Falcons strive to meet the high expectations: “We wish that continues and we on our path are doing our best to make sure that the confidence in the team can be sustained. We will try as much as possible to meet up with their expectations.”
Madugu also called on fans to continue to rally behind the team both in spirit and in action: “Let them just continue to trust and support the team, pray for the team and wish the team well.”
Justin Madugu was part of the coaching crew that guided Nigeria to victory at the 2018 WAFCON in Ghana. Now, as head coach, he will be aiming to lift the trophy again, building on his impressive track record since taking charge of the Women’s National Team.

The Super Falcons will kick off their WAFCON campaign with a highly-anticipated clash against Tunisia on July 6, before facing Botswana and Algeria on July 10 and 13, respectively.
