Genk identify Patrick Agyemang as Arokodare’s replacement

Belgian side K.R.C. Genk have identified American striker Patrick Agyemang as an ideal replacement for soon-to-depart Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare, Bold Sports reports. 

After a spectacular season with the Blauw-Wit, where he scored an impressive 23 goals and seven assists in 45 games across all competitions, as well as winning the Golden Shoe award, the Nigeria international has caught the attention of several foreign clubs. 

Clubs such as Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Benfica, Besiktas, and Fenerbahce are reportedly monitoring the 24-year-old former Amiens and Koln striker; however, no concrete offer has been made to Genk.

Arokodare is currently valued at €18 million by respected German-based football statistics website Transfermarkt, but Genk are believed to be holding out for at least €20 million.

In preparation for his departure, Genk have set their sights on Charlotte FC’s Patrick Agyemang.

The 24-year-old has been one of the standout performers in Major League Soccer this season, scoring eight goals and providing one assist in 18 matches. On the international scene, Agyemang has also impressed, scoring five goals in nine appearances for the United States men’s national team.

Standing at 6 feet 3 inches, Agyemang fits the profiles of strikers that has represented Gent in recent years. He is physically strong and has a nose for goals and can hold up plays.

According to a report, Genk has held talks with Charlotte FC over a possible summer transfer for the 24-year-old who is currently valued at €4 million. The striker is contracted to the MLS franchise until the end of the year with an option of a possible one-year extension. 

Securing his signature despite interest from other European clubs will most likely leave Genk in good hands after the departure of Arokodare.
