Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor have reached an agreement with Southampton for the transfer of Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu, with the deal valued at around €8 million, according to renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The finalisation of the move now hinges on personal terms, though Onuachu is believed to favour a return to Trabzonspor, where he previously impressed during a loan spell in the 2023–24 season.

During that loan stint, the 31-year-old forward was in fine form, netting 17 goals and registering four assists in 25 appearances across all competitions. His performances were crucial in helping the club secure a third-place league finish and reach the Turkish Cup final, where they narrowly lost to Beşiktaş.

Back at Southampton, Onuachu’s fortunes dipped as injury setbacks limited his involvement. He managed only 11 Premier League starts last season, contributing four goals and one assist.

Following Southampton’s relegation to the Championship, it was widely expected that Onuachu would seek a fresh move to reignite his career. A permanent move to Trabzonspor offers him a familiar environment where he previously thrived and can play regularly.

His potential return is viewed as a significant addition to Trabzonspor’s squad and could be instrumental in their ambition to reclaim the Super Lig title, which they last won in the 2021–22 campaign.
